Role Introduction

This is a vital role for the organisation which requires a pro-active and hands-on qualified accountant to support the Group Financial Control team to develop up-to-date processes, policies and controls to ensure that the Group continues to accurately report its financial performance and position. The Group is executing an exciting and ambitious growth strategy and a critical part of this role is to ensure that the Group continues to have effective financial controls and accurate reporting. This role will have 2-3 direct reports.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop and implement appropriate financial control processes to ensure the accurate reporting of the Group’s financial performance and position.
  • Own and drive the month-end close process for the Group; identify and implement process improvements to reduce closing timeframe. Liaise with other teams and departments as required to deliver this.
  • Oversee the consolidation and Group adjustments, such as eliminations, intercompany, IFRS16, among others. Manage one direct report who supports in this area.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and cashflow for management reporting packs and associated breakdowns, as well as for year end accounts.
  • Manage one direct report and processes around debtors reporting and related risks and adjustments, such as credit note and bad debt provisions, support with debt write off processes and liaise with Financial Operations team as needed on related topics.
  • Oversee the bank reconciliation process, understand challenges and drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Support as required with the Group and subsidiary audits. 
  • Prepare and review reconciliations and schedules, as well as monitoring risks and opportunities in the balance sheet.
  • Support on the integration of the Group’s acquisitions.

What You Will Have

  • Experience working either in a similar in-house role or working in practice supporting similar businesses
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) – at least 5 years PQE
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and FRS102
  • Experience of large consolidations
  • Pro-active, hands-on working approach, able to adapt and drive change and improvements
  • Commercial awareness, having a flexible pragmatic approach
  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial data
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate cross functionally with all departments and senior management
