We are looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL server DBA to join an existing team managing high profile, large enterprise ITO customers.

What You Will Do

You will diligently deliver high quality SQL DBA services:

  • Building, Configuring, Securing, Enhancing and Operating SQL Server database servers, to include clustering, availability groups, replication services, SSAS, SSIS and SSRS. This is whole life management of database servers, both on-prem and in the cloud and will include service migrations.
  • Test high availability and business continuity plans for customer systems.
  • Planning, design and implementation of new builds for major corporate and government clients. You will be experienced at producing exceptional quality, customer facing HLD and LLD documentation and will be able to maintain such documentation through system lifecycles.
  • Provide support and mentoring internally and externally, respecting SLA’s and OLA’s as guided.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop and refine technical solutions across the product lifecycle.
  • Be part of the team that includes participation in an On-Call rotation to provide our customers 24/7 support.

What You Will Have

  • Previous experience of SQL server administration.
  • Demonstrable experience of automating, scripting, and streamlining processes for efficiency and accuracy, using tooling such as PowerShell.
  • Ability to operating SQL performance management tooling such Foglight.
  • Experience and/or recent study of Azure or AWS.
  • Understanding of good practices to drive standard, repeatable deployment processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of security best practices pertinent to SQL server administration, e.g. CIS hardening.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills, written and oral, conversing at all levels with customers, prospects and internally.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to devise and implement strategies beneficial to Advanced and our clients.
  • Be self-motivated, tenacious, disciplined, enthusiastic and resilient.
  • Effective time management skills, ability to multitask and prioritise under pressure.

One or more of these accreditations would be advantageous but not essential:

  • Microsoft DP-300: Administering Microsoft Azure SQL Solutions
  • Microsoft AZ-104: Azure Administrator
