Role Introduction

We are accelerating the development of our Access control platform, bringing legacy hardware up to date and taking the application into the cloud with new features to support our product roadmap.

 

We already have a great team in place working towards this goal, but we are looking to strengthen it with a strong embedded developer who can help develop and contribute towards performance and features of our products. From day-to-day development to critical technical architecture decisions – as a developer in a small but high performing team you will be truly instrumental in the success of the products.

What You Will Do

  • Help develop the operating system and embedded software platform running on our bespoke hardware products.
  • Develop appropriate technical solutions to address specified requirements.
  • Write and develop high quality code.
  • Conduct code reviews to continually keep the code base at a high standard.
  • Create documentation for common components and interfaces.
  • Work closely with other software and hardware developers in building features and improving system efficiency.
  • Work with prototype hardware to develop and test embedded applications and the systems they integrate into.
  • Identify and keep abreast of emerging technology.

What You Will Have

  • A good understanding of embedded software development and the role it plays in larger systems.
  • Proficiency in developing in C on memory constrained bare metal systems.
  • Experience in some of the following development technologies: C++; RTOSes; ARM microprocessors (STM32 preferred); Common comms protocols e.g. I2C, UART, SPI; Buildroot; Linux environments.
  • Experience reading and understanding electronic schematics to inform software that interfaces with the hardware.
  • Experience using version control systems e.g. Git.
  • Team player, flexible and able to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Experience of working in agile development environment.
  • Analytical mindset with an ability to appreciate both the big picture and the small details
