Role Introduction

The Senior Manager, Billing, Credit Collections & Renewals will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the billing, collections, and renewals functions within the company. This role involves leading a team, collaborating cross-functionally with sales, customer success, and finance, and implementing strategies to improve cash flow, reduce credit risk, and increase customer retention through timely renewals. You will ensure smooth and efficient processes across all stages of the customer lifecycle, with a focus on accuracy, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

What You Will Do

  • Billing Management:
    • Oversee and manage the billing process for all customers, ensuring timely, accurate invoicing, and resolution of discrepancies.
    • Collaborate with the product, sales, and finance teams to ensure accurate billing for subscription services, product usage, and other add-ons.
    • Analyse billing reports and performance metrics, and drive continuous improvements in efficiency and accuracy.
  • Credit & Collections:
    • Lead credit the collection activities to minimise risk, reduce overdue debt, DSO (Days Sales Outstanding), and ensure healthy cash flow.
    • Develop and implement effective collection strategies for overdue accounts, collaborating with the legal team if necessary.
    • Build strong relationships with customers to address any payment issues and negotiate payment terms as needed.
    • Liaising with internal stakeholders on adhoc questions, queries and escalations.
  • Renewals Management:
    • Drive the renewals process to ensure customer retention and maximisation of contract value.
    • Coordinate with the customer success and sales teams to ensure proactive communication with customers about upcoming renewals.
    • Ensure accurate tracking of renewal dates, terms, and pricing.
    • Analyse customer feedback and contract data to identify opportunities for upsell or cross-sell at the time of renewal.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of billing, collections, and renewals specialists.
    • Establish performance goals, provide regular feedback, and encourage professional development.
    • Foster a collaborative and customer-focused culture within the team.
  • Process Improvement & Automation:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and integration with other business systems.
    • Lead initiatives to streamline billing, collections, and renewal workflows, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
    • Implement best practices and technology solutions to improve accuracy and reduce manual tasks.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
    • Develop and deliver regular reports on billing, collections, and renewals performance, highlighting trends, key performance indicators (KPIs), and opportunities for improvement.
    • Use data and analytics to drive decisions that enhance cash flow and customer retention.
    • Adhoc reporting as requested

What You Will Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in billing, credit collections, and renewals management, ideally in a SaaS or subscription-based business however we would consider other industries (Insurance, Professional services, Financial and or Legal services).
  • Strong understanding of SaaS billing models, subscription contracts, collections strategies and revenue recognition.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial systems and tools, such as NetSuite and Salesforce
  • Ability to analyse financial data and make recommendations for process improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data visualisation tools.
  • Experience with project management and process optimisation initiatives is a plus.
