Role Introduction

Our IT Managed Services business enables customers to innovate, transform, and seize new opportunities. The Technical Operations function underpins this mission by delivering enterprise-grade, 24x7x365 technical support to mid-market clients across both public and private sectors.

We operate a shared services model aligned with ITIL v4, underpinned by ServiceNow, automation, and generative AI. Our 24x7 Operations squads support the health, stability and scalability of our customers’ network infrastructure, routing, switching and firewall environments.

As a Network Engineer, you will provide second-line support for network services across a range of customer environments. You’ll troubleshoot incidents, implement changes, and work with more senior engineers on the resolution of complex technical problems.

This is a shift-based role forming part of a 24x7 operations squad. It requires strong foundational networking skills and a willingness to develop further through on-the-job experience and collaboration with your colleagues.

  • Support planned and emergency network changes under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform routine firewall and switch configuration tasks based on documented procedures.
  • Respond to requests from the SOC relating to network security alerts or events.
  • Use tools such as LogicMonitor and PRTG to monitor network health and escalate abnormalities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records in ServiceNow.
  • Follow documented runbooks and escalate to senior engineers where required.
  • Assist with documentation and CMDB updates related to network configurations.
  • Contribute to improvement ideas around monitoring, alert handling, and standard operating procedures.

What You Will Have

  • Working experience with enterprise networking (Cisco or equivalent).
  • Understanding of core protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF.
  • Some exposure to firewall technologies (e.g. Cisco ASA, Palo Alto).
  • Experience using monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor or PRTG.
  • Familiarity with ITIL principles and change control.
  • Clear and methodical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Eligibility for UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Cisco CCNP certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with wireless networking and secure access control.
  • Awareness of ISO27001 and security compliance in network environments.
  • Interest in scripting, automation or network-as-code practices.
