The Senior Credit Operations Lead is a key member of the Finance Operations team, responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of credit control and collections activity. Acting as the senior point of contact for all debt-related issues, the role focuses on maximising cash collection, managing customer escalations, supporting ledger reconciliation, and driving resolution of outstanding queries in collaboration with the Finance Operations Manager (FOBP) and cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do

Debt Management & Collection Strategy

 

· Own the execution of collection activity across assigned customer segments

· Prioritise and act on aged debt based on risk and value

· Lead and support weekly collections reviews with credit controllers and FinOps Manager

· Track performance against cash and overdue targets

· Ensure customer accounts are up to date and billing is accurate

· Identify accounts needing senior escalation or cross-functional intervention

 

Customer Escalations & Query Resolution

 

· Act as the senior contact for escalated customer payment queries

· Work closely with Renewals, Billing, and Account Management to resolve disputes

· Monitor ServiceNow queues and support clearing high-priority tickets

· Escalate systemic or recurring issues to the FinOps BP for resolution

 

Ledger & Reconciliation Support

 

· Partner with the Cash Application and Billing teams to ensure timely and accurate allocation of payments

· Proactively support clean-up of aged, misallocated, or unallocated balances

· Review the ledger for anomalies and work to maintain account hygiene

 

Reporting & Governance

 

· Maintain accurate customer account notes and resolution histories

· Support weekly cash forecasting and reporting of overdue debt, credit notes, and query aging

· Contribute to ledger reviews and monthly commentary for leadership

 

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

 

· Identify process inefficiencies and work with the FinOps BP to drive change

· Support the transition to a sector-based operating model

· Mentor and coach junior team members and new starters

Key Skills & Experience

· 7+ years in credit control or collections, ideally in a SaaS or recurring revenue environment

· Strong understanding of the Order-to-Cash process, cash application, and reconciliations

· Confident dealing with senior stakeholders and challenging conversations

· Skilled in ERP and CRM systems (NetSuite, Salesforce, ServiceNow)

· Excellent data skills – able to identify trends, variances, and risks

 

Success Measures

 

· Reduction in aged debt and improved cash collections

· Ensuring aged debt does not increase and is well-managed

· Faster resolution of queries and customer payment blockers

· Improved ledger hygiene and reduced credit note volumes

· Consistent query resolution and reduced escalations to FinOps BP
