The Portfolio Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of large-scale, complex programmes within the Legal Services organisation. This role will oversee multiple interconnected projects and workstreams, ensuring that business objectives are achieved through effective planning, governance, stakeholder management, and execution.

The role focuses on coordinating transformation initiatives that include change management, workflow optimisation, technology implementations, systems integrations, product release management, and organizational change activities. The Portfolio Manager will work closely with Legal Services, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Internal and External Business Stakeholders while providing leadership and support to Project Managers responsible for delivering individual projects.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring programmes are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic business outcomes.

 

What You Will Do

 

Portfolio Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex programmes consisting of multiple related projects and workstreams.
  • Define programme scope, objectives, success criteria, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Establish programme governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and delivery frameworks.
  • Ensure alignment of programme activities with Legal Services and broader organisational strategic objectives.
  • Drive accountability across project teams to achieve programme milestones and benefits realization.

Workstream Coordination

  • Manage and coordinate multiple concurrent workstreams, including:
    • IQ Legal implementation projects
    • Business process and workflow transformation
    • System integrations
    • Product and platform enhancements
    • Organisational change and adoption activities
  • Identify and manage interdependencies across projects and business functions.
  • Proactively address programme-wide risks, issues, and constraints.

Product Release & Integration Management

  • Coordinate product release schedules across multiple projects and delivery teams.
  • Work with Legal Services, Engineering, Product Management and operational stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and adoption of solutions.
  • Oversee integration activities between IQ Legal platforms and other systems.
  • Ensure readiness of business users through appropriate planning, testing, communication and enablement activities.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across Legal Services, Technology, Operations, Product, and Business functions.
  • Facilitate effective communication and decision-making across programme governance forums.
  • Provide regular programme status updates, executive reporting, and escalation management.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment throughout programme delivery.

Project Management Leadership

  • Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to Project Managers within the programme.
  • Ensure consistency in project delivery methodologies, tools, standards and reporting.
  • Champion best practices in programme and project management.
  • Support resource planning, prioritisation, and workload balancing across projects.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage programme budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor programme financial performance and report on budget utilisation.
  • Coordinate resource planning across projects and workstreams.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources to meet programme objectives.

 

Risk, Governance & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain programme-level risk and issue management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational governance, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct programme reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive quality assurance across all programme deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience

 

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience managing large, complex programmes in a corporate or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrated success delivering programmes comprising multiple projects and workstreams.
  • Strong experience with project and programme governance frameworks.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams across technology, operations, and business functions.
  • Proven experience managing executive stakeholders and governance boards.
  • Experience managing programme budgets, risks, and resource planning.

Preferred

  • Experience working within Legal Services, Legal Operations, Professional Services, or highly regulated environments.
  • Programme management certification such as:
    • MSP (Managing Successful Programmes)
    • PgMP (Program Management Professional)
    • PMP (Project Management Professional)
    • PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • Experience with Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Legal technology platforms and workflow automation solutions.
