ServiceNow SysAdmin and Developer 

OneAdvanced uses ServiceNow across a number of key processes including Lead to Order, Project to Value, Order to Cash and Request to Resolve. The OneAdvanced IT Service Management team support the platform in service. The core elements are; platform, integration hub, Portal, CSM, ITSM and ITOM.  

 

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team, actively participating in the deployment of the platform into business as usual and thereafter in support 

As a member of the ServiceNow Centre of Excellence and a SystemAdministrator and Developer, you will play a crucial role in taking the platform forward and continuing to deliver value to the business from the implementation. You will be responsible for daily administrative tasks but also the ongoing development, design, and support of technical solutions on the ServiceNow platform, along with stakeholders and team members. This role will be located in our Birmingham office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

 

You will work closely with the IT Service Desk, and cross functional business teams.  

 

Responsibilities  

  • Performing intermediate to advanced level development tasks within the ITSM/CSM/ITOM applications within the ServiceNow platform 
  • ServiceNow Platform administration, management, and support including deployments. 
  • Creating and/or maintaining Service Catalog items, some of which require complex catalogue development experience and knowledge. 
  • Creating and or maintaining components such as Server-side scripts, ACLs, Business Rules, UI Actions, UI Policies, and AJAX using languages such as Javascript, Angular, and Python 
  • Developing client-focused solutions in the following modules Customer Services, Customer and Service Operations workspaces, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Release Management, Knowledge Management, Asset Management, CMDB, Virtual Agent, and CSM/Employee Portal 
  • Create and maintain system design and operations documentation. 
  • Monitor and report on development progress, status, and metrics to stakeholders. 
  • Commit to continuous improvement and learning of ServiceNow best practices, tools, and technology. 

 

Skills and Experience 

  • Self-starter used to small teams and customer facing 
  • A ServiceNow Administrator certification and Implementation Specialist (ITSM or CSM). 
  • Experience of development on a large transformation project in an agile environment where ServiceNow was integrated with multiple enterprise tier applications; like Salesforce/CRM, NetSuite, ERPs 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with ServiceNow development 
  • Strong understanding of development methodologies 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Ability to be hands on and work in the detail as and when required. 
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently, work to tight deadlines, prioritize workloads and work with related internal business functions. 

Preferred 

  • Experience with Performance Analytics 
  • Reporting and Dashboards. 

What You Will Do

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day administration, development and support of the ServiceNow platform, ensuring the platform remains stable, secure and fit for business needs.
  • Design, develop and implement ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, CSM and ITOM, including enhancements, workflows, integrations and platform improvements.
  • Configure and develop ServiceNow applications, including Service Catalog, Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Knowledge, Asset Management, CMDB, Virtual Agent and Employee/CSM Portals.
  • Build and maintain technical components including Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions, ACLs, server-side scripting, AJAX and other ServiceNow development components.
  • Support the deployment of ServiceNow into business-as-usual operations, providing ongoing technical support, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the IT Service Desk, business stakeholders, architects, developers and other technology teams to understand requirements and deliver practical, customer-focused solutions.
  • Contribute to ServiceNow integrations with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, CRM, NetSuite and other ERP and business systems.
  • Investigate and resolve platform issues, identify root causes and implement sustainable technical solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system designs, support documentation and operational procedures.
  • Monitor delivery progress, platform performance, development metrics and key activities, providing clear updates to stakeholders.
  • Follow ServiceNow development standards, governance and best practices, while identifying opportunities to improve the platform and ways of working.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and trusted technical partner, providing guidance to colleagues and stakeholders and supporting the wider ServiceNow Centre of Excellence.
  • Be comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced environment, balancing development, administration, support and project delivery priorities.

What You Will Have

  • Strong hands-on experience as a ServiceNow Administrator and Developer, with a minimum of 5 years' ServiceNow development experience.
  • Proven experience delivering ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, CSM and/or ITOM environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow platform administration, configuration, development, deployments and support.
  • Practical experience developing ServiceNow components using JavaScript and ServiceNow scripting technologies, with knowledge of Angular and Python advantageous.
  • Experience building and maintaining complex Service Catalog solutions and workflows.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow modules including Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Knowledge, Asset Management, CMDB, Service Portal and CSM.
  • Experience working on large transformation programmes in an Agile environment, particularly where ServiceNow is integrated with multiple enterprise applications such as Salesforce, NetSuite and ERP platforms.
  • ServiceNow Administrator certification, ideally supported by an Implementation Specialist certification in ITSM or CSM.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working independently within a small, customer-focused team and taking ownership through to completion.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work to tight deadlines and collaborate effectively across business and technology teams.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to get into the detail when required, rather than relying solely on others for technical delivery.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in keeping up to date with ServiceNow best practices, new capabilities and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with Performance Analytics, reporting and dashboards would be desirable.
